Gateway and Peer Reviews
It is understandable that organisations will often seek independent assurance that a project or programme is being effectively managed and in accordance with industry best practice. At critical points in a project’s life, a review may highlight ways to make improvements, or demonstrate how lessons from past experiences could be applied.
At Cornwell our consulting teams place great emphasis on not only understanding the true objectives and success criteria of a project, but also on appreciating the cultural, political and other sensitivities that may surround the initiative. With this in mind, we have our own ‘health check’ guidelines that enable us to carry out independent reviews quickly, succinctly and comprehensively. In addition, we’re also able to apply guidelines from other well recognised authorities, in particular those of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and have provided services through OGC on well over 200 separate assignments.
An example of Cornwell’s competence in this area is the provision of accredited consultants to OGC to apply the OGC Gateway™ Process on programmes and projects throughout the public sector. We also have a number of consultants on OGC’s Executive Support Service (ESS: SRO Mentors and Non Executive Board Directors) for designated Mission Critical Projects, and the long established Strategic Assignment Consultancy Service (SACS).
Cornwell is one of the most active consultancies in providing independent and constructive analyses through these routes. All our consultants are proficient in best practices such as PRINCE2, MSP, the Successful Delivery Toolkit, and recognised ISO9001:2000 quality management processes and all have a variety of additional qualifications such as ITIL.
