Information and Knowledge Management
Freedom of Information Act
Cornwell is acknowledged as a leading independent consultancy in enterprise content management and electronic document and records managment. We are therefore in a unique position to help both public and private sector organisations respond to the Freedom of Information Act, which came into force on 1st January 2005. Our perspective on freedom of information compliance is pragmatic and evolutionary, helping clients develop approaches that:
- Enable efficient responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), by making maximum use of current document and records management systems.
- Minimise the risks of non-compliance whilst allowing the conduct of normal daily business.
- Provide a sound platform for further evolutionary development.
Our consultants achieve this through a comprehensive range of services that include:
- A checkpoint facility to determine current ability to deal with RFIs and to deliver subsequent recommendations.
- An information audit to assess the extent of support from current information and records management systems.
- A risk analysis in conjunction with legal representatives to identify areas within the organisation likely to receive numerous RFI’s.
- Helping develop the most appropriate information architecture and governance arrangements to enable effective decision-making and processing of RFIs.
- Process analysis and modelling to help define the most appropriate RFI response approaches.
- Development of policies and procedures to ensure consistency of approach throughout the organisation .
- Advice on the most appropriate IT systems for monitoring and tracking RFI’s.
- ECM and EDRM assistance where our consultants advise on many areas including classification schemes, disposal schedules and search and retrieval techniques.
